LYBUNT (Last Year But Not This Year) report
The LYBUNT (Last Year But Not This Year) report in Reports module of Retention CRM helps Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Nonprofit organizations in identifying donors who contributed in the previous year but haven’t donated yet in the current year. This helps membership organizations track donor retention and identify potential lapsed donors.
General Functionality of LYBUNT Report
Available Fields:
- Donor Name: This displays the full name of the constituent who made a contribution/donation.
- Email: This shows the donor’s primary email address on file.
- Phone: This displays the donor’s primary phone number on record.
Nursing Association Specific Fields:
- Donor Name: This remains the same as the general description, displaying the full name of the nursing professional who donated.
- Gender: This allows filtering by the donor’s gender, which might be relevant for the nursing association if they have specific initiatives or programs geared towards a particular gender.
- Birth Date: This can be used to identify potential lapsed donors based on age or career stage. For example, the association might want to target lapsed donors nearing retirement to encourage continued support.
- Contact Type: This allows filtering by the type of contact, such as Individual, Organization, or Household. This can be helpful if the association receives donations from both individual nurses and nursing organizations.
- On Hold: This lets you see if a donor’s account is currently on hold, meaning they might not be receiving communication or able to donate online.
- Address Information (Street Address, Postal Code, City, Country, State/Province, County): This allows filtering by the donor’s location, which could be useful for geographically targeted outreach campaigns.
- This Year: This is a checkbox that allows you to exclude any contributions made in the current year. This ensures the report only includes donors who gave last year but not yet this year.
Additional Filters:
- Financial Type: This allows filtering by the type of financial contribution, such as Donation, Membership Fee, or Event Fee.
- Contribution Status: This helps filter by the status of the contribution, such as Completed, Pending, or Cancelled.
- Campaign: This lets you filter by a specific fundraising campaign the donor might have contributed to last year.
- Credit Card Type: This allows filtering by the type of credit card used for the contribution, though this might not be as relevant for the nursing association.
- Tag: This allows filtering by tags assigned to the donor’s record, which can be used to categorize donors based on interests or giving history.
- Group: This lets you filter by groups the donor belongs to within Retention CRM. The nursing association might have groups for different specialties or membership levels.
Using LYBUNT Report in Association Management
A nursing association can utilize the LYBUNT report to identify and cultivate relationships with lapsed donors. Here’s a hypothetical scenario:
Scenario: The association wants to re-engage nurses who donated last year but haven’t yet donated this year.
- Run the Report: They can filter the LYBUNT report to include only donors with the Contact Type set to “Individual.”
- Further Refine: They can choose to filter by specific genders or age groups relevant to their programs.
- Analyze Data: The report will display names, contact information, and details of their previous donations. This allows the association to personalize outreach efforts.
- Targeted Outreach: Based on the information, the association can develop targeted email campaigns, phone calls, or even personalized letters reminding these lapsed donors about the association’s work and the impact of their donations. They can also highlight upcoming events or programs relevant to the donor’s interests.
More Use Cases for Associations, Chambers of Commerce and Nonprofits
Animal Shelter: (Non-Profit Use Case)
The LYBUNT report can be valuable for an animal shelter to identify lapsed donors who might be interested in resuming their support. They can:
- Run the report and exclude contributions made this year (using the “This Year” checkbox).
- Filter by donors who previously donated towards specific campaigns like stray animal rescue or spay/neuter programs.
- Analyze the report to find lapsed donors and personalize outreach based on their past giving. They can send emails highlighting success stories from the campaigns they supported or invite them to volunteer events.
Chamber of Commerce: (Use Case for Chambers)
A Chamber of Commerce can leverage the LYBUNT report to reconnect with businesses that were previously members but haven’t renewed this year. Here’s how:
- Run the LYBUNT report and filter by the “Contact Type” set to “Organization.”
- They can further refine by looking at specific membership categories (e.g., small businesses) or industry groups.
- Analyze the report for lapsed members’ contact information and details of their previous memberships. The Chamber can then craft targeted emails or phone calls reminding them of the benefits of membership, such as networking opportunities or industry-specific resources.
Historical Society: (Association Use Case)
A historical society can utilize the LYBUNT report to identify and re-engage lapsed donors who might be interested in supporting their preservation efforts. They can:
- Run the LYBUNT report and exclude recent contributions/donations.
- They can filter by donors who previously contributed towards specific restoration projects or educational programs.
- Analyze the report to personalize outreach based on past giving. The society can send emails highlighting the progress made on projects they funded or invite them to exclusive events like behind-the-scenes tours.
By utilizing the LYBUNT report and its filters, Nonprofits, Associations and Chambers of Commerce can effectively identify and re-engage lapsed donors, potentially increasing their fundraising success.
